Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, August 2014 – Neoedge, a leading events production company based in Singapore will be holding its 5th Annual Africa Gas & LNG Summit 2014 in DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Dar es Salaam – Oyster Bay, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on 1st to 4th September 2014.
This Q&A was with Premesha Motha, Lead Analyst & Business Development Head at Neoedge Singapore.
Q: Why did you choose Tanzania as the venue for the summit? For that matter, how will this summit help the country in maximising its wealth in terms of gas reserves?
A: Tanzania is the latest hotspot and member country in Africa to join in the global scale natural gas and LNG industry. It is not only identified to hold a top ten natural gas discovery for the year 2013 but also forecast to have their natural gas volumes tripled in the next 2 years.
The summit focuses on regulation reform, financing risk, infrastructure development, human talent management, local content development, environmental issues, pricing and commercialization of natural gas etc which are primary concerns to the local and international parties who are considering Tanzania as a business place. This event will inform and build consensus required for accelerated commercialization of their natural gas assets which is vital in a marketplace that could be subjected to oversupply and lower prices in the near future.
Q: You have a diverse range of speakers. How did you go about with the selection process to come up with such a great mix?
A: The speakers were chosen with close consideration given to their expertise on the current issues that needs to be addressed to monetize the new resources. The regulators, public and private stakeholders in the LNG value chain are engaged to make it a well rounded summit that gives attention to developing sustainable LNG projects.
Q: What are your hopes for the Gas & LNG Industry in Tanzania? For that matter, what about the Africa Region in general?
A: I hope that Africa will get to promote their resources and attract the investors needed to develop this lucrative business. I believe that this would not only make them a prominent and influential player in the global LNG industry but also would help solve many contemporary issues that are in Africa’s way to greater economic and social growth.
